Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains ended with three people at the final tribal council. The jury gave Sandra Diaz-Twine six votes, Parvati Shallow three and Russell Hantz none. Diaz-Twine became the first person to win Survivor twice, having also won Pearl Islands in 2003. Shallow, who had won Micronesia two years before, finished second on her third season.

The other image most people carry out of that endgame involves Hantz rather than Shallow. On day 39 Diaz-Twine burned Hantz's fedora, a moment The Ringer went back to a decade later. If you have seen the clip and filed it under the Sandra and Parvati story, it belongs to a different pairing.

They played the same season on the same side

The rivalry reads cleaner in a highlight reel than it played on the beach. Diaz-Twine and Shallow were on the Villains tribe together from the first day, and at one tribal council Shallow played two hidden immunity idols for other people. One of the two was for Diaz-Twine.

What separated them was the ending, not the season. Nine jurors chose, the count was 6-3-0, and the person who lost the vote had spent thirty-nine days in the same camp as the person who won it. That is the shape of the on-screen conflict.

Fourteen years later both women turned up in the same castle. The second US season of The Traitors premiered in January 2024 with Shallow recruited as a Traitor in the opening episode and Diaz-Twine playing as a Faithful, where she finished fifth.

Neither had been told the other was coming. In a joint interview published on 12 January 2024 Shallow said she was shocked when she saw Diaz-Twine there, and thought the shock ran both ways. Diaz-Twine described the same few seconds from her side: "My smile quickly turned into a frown."

The truce arrived early, and it came from outside Survivor. Both credited Peppermint, the RuPaul's Drag Race alum, with sitting them down together. Diaz-Twine's account is that once that happened they sorted it out quickly and then moved on from it.

Why the present tense is wrong

Both women have said on the record that the matter is settled, in the same interview, on the same day. That is the most recent thing either of them has said about it in the sources reviewed here, which is why this page does not describe a live feud.

It is also why the harder framings do not hold. Nothing located here has either woman claiming the other did anything to her outside the game. What exists is a jury vote in 2010, an uncomfortable first minute at a reality show castle in 2024, and a conversation that ended it. Anything stronger is coming from the retelling rather than from the two people involved.
