What happened in August 2025

In mid-August 2025 Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick posted an Instagram video answering Eliza Orlins, a fellow Survivor player who had written about her on Substack. In it she told Orlins not to "come at me with your political status" while Orlins is Jewish and her parents, as LaGrossa Kendrick described them, are in the wealthiest 1 percent. The video came down. The remark was widely condemned as antisemitic, and Orlins responded in public.

The exact day is not settled. One report dates the video to 17 August 2025 and another to 20 August 2025. Both are reputable, neither corrects the other, and there is no reason to prefer one, so this page says mid-August.

The apology, and what she said she meant

LaGrossa Kendrick apologised in a statement given to the Daily Mail. She said she had "misspoke in a way that was abrupt, poorly worded, and offensive". She said the thing she had been trying to express was frustration that someone who is Jewish was not standing up for their own community. She added that she stands in support of the Jewish people and condemns "all forms of antisemitism, discrimination and hate".

That is her account of her own intent, and it belongs here at the same weight as the criticism rather than as a footnote.
