The accusations that came months later

After the season aired, two players said pre-game contact had happened among the cast that filmed. On 5 January 2026 Sage Ahrens-Nichols, who finished third, posted a Last Thoughts video to YouTube. She said Sophi Balerdi left her tent at night to talk to people and afterwards asked her about tribe colours and another player's placement, and she said she watched Jake Latimer start conversations with a lot of people. She indicated others were involved but did not name them.

Annie Davis, voted out second, later described pre-game contact on Lauren Ashley Beck's Island of the Idols podcast. She said most of it happened at night in Tent City, that she was approached to take part and turned it down, and she recounted a removed contestant's dismissive attitude toward production. Her account supports the general claim that contact occurred. It is not a second naming of the same two people, and it should not be reported as one.

Both remain in the season as aired. Neither Balerdi nor Latimer has answered in detail in public. Balerdi posted unrelated Instagram content and gave a joking reply when Dee Valladares left a joke comment about pre-gaming, which is not a response to the substance of anything Sage said. CBS has not commented. No investigation was announced and no player was penalised. These are player-to-player accusations, unadjudicated, and that is the only honest way to carry them.
