Musician and Survivor fan whose name went on a Survivor 50 idol twist
Billie Eilish and Survivor
Billie Eilish has never played Survivor. She is one of four celebrity fans who contributed a twist to Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans, and hers was the Billie Eilish Boomerang Idol, an immunity idol the finder had to give away to a player on a rival tribe. Jeff Probst says his team sent her a couple of ideas, she chose the Boomerang, and she approved the clue his team wrote. She also wrote the letter that introduced the idol to the players.

What the Boomerang Idol actually did
Survivor 50 premiered on CBS on February 25, 2026, and the season's premise was that fans voted on the format. Eighty percent of them voted to keep hidden immunity idols in the game, so idols stayed, and one of them carried Billie Eilish's name. The catch was that the finder could not keep it. Whoever found a Billie Eilish Boomerang Idol had to send it to a player on an opposing tribe.
Once sent, the idol belonged to the recipient outright. They could not pass it on again and could only play it for themselves, and it held its power up to and including the final five. The one string attached was the boomerang: if the recipient was voted out still holding it, immunity would return to the person who originally found it. That put the finder in a genuinely awkward spot. Send it to someone you want to work with later, or send it to someone you plan to blindside so it comes back to you.
How involved she actually was
More involved than a name on a prop, less involved than a co-designer. In a March 2026 interview, Jeff Probst described the process plainly: "We sent her a couple of ideas, and she decided which one she liked; she said, 'I like the Boomerang.'" His team then drafted the clue, and, in his words, "she approved that as well." He added, "It was really fun to collaborate with her. She was enthusiastic about it."
Her own account, given to Amy Poehler on the Good Hang podcast on May 5, 2026, was shorter and vaguer: "It's a Billie Eilish idol, so basically I wrote a letter to the contestants being like, 'Here's your secret idol.'" The idol did come with a letter from her explaining the rules, found alongside the first one in the premiere. Fans read her version and Probst's as a contradiction, and coverage that week ran on how hands-on she had actually been. Both accounts fit together. She picked the mechanic from a shortlist, signed off on the wording, and wrote the letter. She did not design the twist from scratch and she never appeared on the show.
What happened to the three idols
Genevieve Mushaluk found the first one on Day 4 in the premiere, alongside Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick, and sent it to Ozzy Lusth. Christian Hubicki found the second on Day 4 as well and sent it to Aubry Bracco. Genevieve found a third on Day 9 and sent that one to Rizo Velovic, picking an ally on the theory that he would not see it coming when she later blindsided him to take the idol back.
Only one of the three was ever played. Aubry, taking heat for holding a publicly known idol, burned hers at the Day 15 Tribal Council to get the target off her back, and she went on to win Survivor 50 by an 8-3-0 jury vote at the May 20, 2026 finale. The boomerang half of the mechanic never fired. Genevieve was voted out on Day 13, eight days before Ozzy was voted out on Day 21 having chosen not to play the idol she gave him, so there was no finder left for it to return to. The twist produced exactly one idol play, and it belonged to the eventual winner.
Why Survivor asked her in the first place
Eilish is one of four celebrity contributors to Survivor 50, alongside Jimmy Donaldson, Jimmy Fallon and Zac Brown. Probst has said the four are Survivor fans who wanted to be part of the anniversary season: "I think they'll understand these are legit Survivor fans who wanted to be a part of 50." Her fandom predates the season by years. Her 2022 song TV, from the two-track EP Guitar Songs, opens with the line "I put on Survivor just to watch somebody suffer."
She has been direct about her own chances if she ever played. She told Poehler she loves imagining she could do it one day, but that the math in the puzzles would sink her, while the physical side she thinks she could handle. She has also said the idol brought her a category of compliment she had never received before, from people who had never once complimented her music.
The players who touched a Billie Eilish idol
Three idols, five players. Two finders, three recipients, and only one idol ever played.
-
Genevieve Mushaluk
Found the first idol on Day 4 and a third on Day 9. Sent them to Ozzy Lusth and Rizo Velovic, then went out on Day 13 before either could return.
Found 2
-
Christian Hubicki
Found the second Boomerang Idol on Day 4 and sent it across to Aubry Bracco, the one recipient who ended up using hers.
Found 1
-
Aubry Bracco
The only player to play a Boomerang Idol. Burned it on Day 15 because the whole camp knew she had it, then won the season 8-3-0.
Played it
-
Ozzy Lusth
Received Genevieve's first idol and was voted out on Day 21 without playing it. Genevieve was already gone, so nothing boomeranged.
Never played
-
Rizo Velovic
Received Genevieve's second idol as an ally she expected to blindside later. He went out at the Day 25 fire-making challenge.
Never played

If the recipient was voted out still holding it, immunity boomeranged back to the finder.
- Was Billie Eilish on Survivor?

- How involved was Billie Eilish in designing the idol?
- Jeff Probst said in March 2026 that his team sent her a couple of ideas, she chose the Boomerang, and she approved the clue his team wrote. She wrote the introductory letter herself. She did not invent the mechanic and did not travel to Fiji.

- No. Aubry Bracco played hers on Day 15. Ozzy Lusth was voted out on Day 21 holding his, but Genevieve Mushaluk, who had sent it to him, was voted out on Day 13, so there was no finder left for it to return to.
