What was filed, and where

Jackie Glazier, a professional poker player who competed on Australian Survivor: Heroes v Villains, lodged a civil claim in the Supreme Court of Victoria against Endemol Shine Australia, the company that produces the series. Her solicitors, the Melbourne firm Arnold Thomas & Becker, published a note about the filing, and Australian reporting picked it up on 14 October 2024. The season was filmed in Samoa in 2023.

This is a civil compensation claim, not a criminal case. Nobody has been charged with anything. A plaintiff in a civil claim sets out what she says happened and what she says it cost her, and the defendant then answers. On the record located here, that answer has never been made public.

The pit, as the pleading describes it

The central allegation is a measurement. Glazier alleges that during a challenge she attempted to jump a large rotating cube, and that the pit she landed in contained only about 30 centimetres of water. TV Blackbox, reporting the filing, quoted the claim as saying that "the ground beneath the water had not been sufficiently softened".

Read that as what it is. It is her account of the challenge, written into a court document by her lawyers, and it has not been tested by anyone. No court has measured the pit, no court has heard from the crew who built it, and Endemol Shine Australia has not publicly given its version. The number is memorable, which is exactly why it needs the word alleges attached every time it is repeated.

What she says the injury was

Glazier alleges three things came out of the landing: a broken collarbone, ligament damage to her right shoulder, and thoracic outlet syndrome. The last of those is a compression condition affecting the nerves and blood vessels that run between the collarbone and the first rib, and she alleges it has left her with ongoing pain and restricted movement.

The claim seeks past and future economic loss, medical expenses and general damages. No dollar figure has been reported for any of those. TV Blackbox reported separately that her participation fee for the season was $25,000, and that another contestant, George Mladenov, was injured during the same challenge. Mladenov has not been reported as a party to this claim.

Nobody has won anything

This is the part that gets mangled in retellings. Glazier has not won a lawsuit. No damages have been awarded to her. No court has found Endemol Shine Australia negligent, and the company has not admitted anything, because nothing has been decided. Filing a claim starts a case; it does not finish one.

Searches of Victorian court materials and Australian legal databases through 26 July 2026 turned up no judgment, no settlement announcement, no discontinuance and no case number. The Supreme Court of Victoria does not publish a complete historical docket to the public, and a litigation search has to be formally requested, so the file's present status cannot be stated either. Treat the matter as pending and undecided rather than quietly assuming it went away.

The second claim against the same producer

This is not the first injury claim brought against Endemol Shine Australia by an Australian Survivor contestant. In 2020 the big-wave surfer Ross Clarke-Jones filed a negligence claim in the same court after a challenge rope gave way during Champions v Contenders. That case settled before it reached a hearing, with no ruling on liability and no public terms.

The link between the two is a lawyer. Aki Munir, named in reporting on the Glazier filing, previously acted for Clarke-Jones. That connection explains why the two stories are usually told together, and it is worth saying plainly that a settlement in one case establishes nothing about another. The Clarke-Jones matter ended without a finding. The Glazier matter has not ended at all.
