36 Hour Survivor: Influencer Experience
Eight internet creators played a real Survivor game, and none of them won it. The Survivor production flew them to Fiji in April 2025 for 36 hours on one tribe, put them through one Tribal Council, and released the result on YouTube that September as a teaser for Survivor 49. Karl Jacobs blindsided the person who brought him the plan; nobody was crowned.

What it actually was
Survivor has run promotional stunts before. This was not one of them in the usual sense: the show's own producers built a functioning game, on Survivor's Fiji beaches, with fire, shelter, an immunity challenge that split the tribe into three teams, a hidden immunity idol and a real Tribal Council. The cast were not actors playing along, and by every account of the shoot they took it seriously enough to start scheming inside a day.
The limit was time. Thirty-six hours only leaves room for one vote, so the thing that makes Survivor Survivor, the slow attritional grind toward a jury, was never on the table. Reviews of it landed on the same complaint: a game with no ending is a trailer, not a season.
The one vote
Hannah Kosh went to Karl Jacobs with a split-vote plan to take out Phaith Montoya. Karl agreed, then looked at how quickly Hannah and Alyssa Amoroso were reading the game and decided the strategists were the bigger problem. He turned the vote onto Hannah, who left as the only casualty of the entire event, and Phaith stayed.
The cast
-
Karl Jacobs
YouTuber and Twitch streamer, on-screen talent for MrBeast
Still in at the end. Helped start the tribe's fire, held a hidden immunity idol, and flipped on Hannah Kosh to pull the game's only blindside.
-
Monet X Change
Drag performer, winner of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars
Still in at the end.
-
Sean Klitzner
Executive producer of Beast Games
Still in at the end. His casting, alongside Karl Jacobs, is the thread that led to the Beast Games season 2 crossover.
-
Hannah Kosh
Pop culture creator, Unwell Network
Voted out at the single Tribal Council after bringing Karl Jacobs the plan he turned against her.
-
Alyssa Amoroso
Lifestyle and beauty creator
Still in at the end. Read by Karl as one of the two strongest strategic players, which is what saved Phaith Montoya.
-
Phaith Montoya
Fashion and beauty creator
Still in at the end, having been the original target of the split vote that never happened.
-
Tommy Scibelli
Barstool Sports
Still in at the end.
-
Davis Burleson
TikTok creator
Still in at the end.
Why it mattered
Two of the eight came from MrBeast's operation: Karl Jacobs, who fronts videos for him, and Sean Klitzner, an executive producer on Beast Games. A few months later Beast Games season 2 sent its own contestants to Survivor's beaches for an episode shot by Survivor's crew with Jeff Probst present, playing for a private island worth roughly $1.8 million, and five genuine Survivor alumni turned up in that cast.
A 36-hour YouTube experiment is a small thing on its own. As the first move in getting Survivor's format in front of an audience that does not watch CBS on a Wednesday, it worked.
