The deeper read

Reaching the jury and converting that run into a win are separate tests

Male appearances reach the jury phase at 63.3% versus 57.8% for female appearances, a 5.5-point gap. The win-rate gap is 1.3 points.

Those two gaps need not move together. Jury participation measures survival into the back half; winning adds finalist selection, jury composition, format, and final-vote persuasion. Collapsing them into one “performance” number hides where an outcome gap appears.

The outcome funnel

57.8% Female jury-phase rate

14.3% finalist rate; 4.8% win rate.

63.3% Male jury-phase rate

15.2% finalist rate; 6.1% win rate.

Returnees contribute once for every game played.

A single headline rate cannot explain whether a gap emerges before the merge, near the endgame, or at Final Tribal Council.

What the numbers say

Key findings

  • Rates use appearances rather than unique careers, which reflects the outcome of each game played.
  • Age bands are based on age during that season, so a returning player can appear in a different band later.
  • Jury size, finale format, and game length changed over time; group rates do not adjust for those structural differences.

Methodology and limitations

What we counted

We joined the appearance table to player gender details, then calculated jury, finalist, and winner shares for each gender and four age bands.
